There’s another great line up at The Masque this month, just waiting to be enjoyed! Indulge in a feast of music, song, dance and cabaret from a selection of South Africa’s talented artists.

We’ve got another bumper programme for September. As usual, we are delighted to be able to play host to award-winning productions that have toured nationally, as well as to our local dance studios and singers", says Faeron Wheeler, programming manager of The Masque.


The September programme includes:


Silhouette

8 to 10 September

Silhouette is a showcase of the talent, beauty and passion of the Starlight Studio dancers. Every dancer from the sweetest six year old right through to the entrancing seniors will take to the stage to amaze and entertain. Come and be part of the audience as we celebrate the most beautiful art form.... Dance!

Vincent – His Quest to Love and Be Loved

14 to 16 September

Vincent, a multimedia cabaret, (National Arts Festival Bronze Standard Bank Ovation Award, 2022) tells of a complex man with a ruthless drive to create and a deep-seated desire to love and be loved. The show tells of the artist’s search for love, told through reimagined versions of popular musical theatre, pop, rock, and jazz numbers. Presented by Wela Kapela Productions, performed by Daniel Anderson with accompanist Tersia Harley/Jacques du Plessis.

Tina's Turn - A Tina Turner Tribute

17 September

RBL Productions presents A Tribute to the Legendary Tina Turner! Ramaine Barreiro-Lloyd started impersonating Tina at a young age, and after 40 years in the industry, she is a creative force to be reckoned with!  Ramaine boasts powerhouse vocals and a vibrant on-stage presence. Backed by a full band and promising you a rocking great night of fantastic entertainment, Tina’s Turn is not to be missed! Tina classic tunes you can expect on the evening include: The Best, Proud Mary, Nutbush city limits, Let’s stay together, Fool In Love, Disco inferno, Shake a tail feather, Don’t want to fight, Addicted to Love, River deep mountain high, Private dancer, What’s love got to do with it.

Bailaora

21 to 24 September

Tierra Flamenca Dance Studio & Company presents Bailaora, a captivating dance and music show that radiates with the beauty and excitement of flamenco. Immerse yourself in the powerful rhythms, intricate footwork, and emotive storytelling as a kaleidoscope of dancers from beginner to professional level, incredible flamenco guitarists, and a singer share the stage. Experience the soul-stirring duende of a diverse group of women of all ages, shapes and backgrounds. ‘Bailaora’ (meaning ‘dancer’) is, in essence, a celebration of dance and all those who identify as bailaoras!

Local is Lekker!

29 and 30 September

A celebration of all things South African with The Joyce Chevalier Centre.

Come and join The Joyce Chevalier Centre and guests for a wonderful evening of South African song and dance, celebrating how LEKKER it is to be a LOCAL! The Joyce Chevalier Centre provides services to adults with intellectual disabilities in the form of work activities and training in lifeskills, work habits and work skills. Our active dance classes provide an afternoon of joy and movement each week, resulting in a fantastic, high energy and family friendly performance that we would love to share with you.

More than 60 years old, The Masque is an iconic venue in the Cape Town cultural landscape. A unique and historic space, it has been home to many amateur theatre societies over the years and was established by local attorney Bertie Stern with the objective of encouraging voluntary participation in all forms of theatre by all people.


A registered Non-Profit Organisation, The Masque strives to make theatre accessible to all – onstage, backstage and for the audience. Run by volunteers with a focus on community, the theatre showcases all genres of performance and is as widely inclusive as possible. The Masque is wheelchair friendly, has a fully licensed bar and snacks are available before shows and during intervals.


At the helm of the operation is a team with professional theatre experience. Continuing its work into the post-Covid-19 era, The Masque seeks to present high-quality amateur theatre productions, providing a service of artistic engagement with the local community, celebrating diversity and building on the Theatre’s reputation as a sought-after professional venue-for-hire.

The Masque Box Office is open from 9am to 2pm every Wednesday.

Cash bar and simple snacks are available for sale at the Theatre.

The Masque is situated at 37 Main Rd, Muizenberg, Cape Town, 7950, South Africa.


Parking is available at the venue.  Wheelchair Access and Facilities available.


The Masque has a back-up generator so the show will go on, even when there is load shedding!
