Cape Town Opera is set to entice children to enjoy bite-sized opera with a delightful 40 minute film, A Pocket Magic Flute.

Cape Town opera continues with its mission to introduce children to the magic of opera, with a screening of the delightful A Pocket Magic Flute on Sunday 9 March at 11h00 at The Wave Theatre in Cape Town, located on 44 long Street.
Perfect for young children, this 40-minute film, a combination of acting and animation, is a pioneering educational opera project that reimagines Mozart’s The Magic Flute in Africa.
Pocket Opera is the creative team behind this groundbreaking adaptation that brings the engaging movie to life. Music for the project came from top African-American performers at Pocket Opera alongside orchestral tracks by young talent from the Oakland and Sacramento Youth Symphonies in the USA.

This short film is part of Cape town Opera’s SHORTS: A Festival of Short Operas that is at The Wave Theatre from 7 to 16 March 2025 with A Pocket Magic Flute tickets R50 available through Webtickets.
